Silverado Questions–Gas or Diesel

One of the most common questions we get is regarding the engine. Does the Silverado take gas or diesel. The answer is–both. In fact, the Silverado can have a regular gas engine or a diesel engine. You just have to decide when you buy the truck which engine is your favorite. There are advantages to both.

With a gas engine, you will pay less money for fuel per gallon than with a diesel engine. Gas vehicles tend to be more affordable than diesel trucks as well. Gas trucks also have more truck types to choose from than diesel trucks do.

However, there are some advantages to a diesel engine truck. First, diesel engines are more powerful overall than a gas engine. Diesel trucks can tow more, and can handle more punishment than a gas engine. Also diesel trucks are more durable and more reliable. On average, a diesel truck will last between 100,000 and 200,000 miles longer than a gas truck. Diesel trucks rarely break down as well, so your maintenance costs for a diesel truck will be less than that of a gas engine truck.

The choice is up to you. One type of truck will save you more money at the beginning, but the other truck type will save you more money in the long run. Be sure you buy a truck that suits your needs.
